Frequently Asked Questions

Functional Medicine Membership & Pricing

The new membership is $4300 and includes three functional medicine office visits with the doctor, three nutritional counseling sessions, three protocol review health coaching appointments, and two functional medicine blood tests – a thorough baseline blood panel and a comprehensive wheat/gluten sensitivity and leaky gut panel.

Packages of 2 office visits with the doctor are $850.

We do not see functional medicine patients on a single office visit basis. We feel that our patients experience more significant health outcomes when they partner with us on a more consistent basis.

Prior to sitting down at your initial consult, both doctors will review your electronic medical history questionnaire. The answers you provide will be displayed as a matrix pinpointing illness/symptoms, when they started, and the connections that exist within your health. They will also review any medical history, laboratory results, and imaging studies that have been transferred over from other offices. Once you sit down with the doctor, they will ask you to share your story and include details about your life from early childhood to present. The doctors will use all of the information they gather through your medical records, health and life story, and physical examination to build a complete picture of your health and the factors that influence it. They will explain their findings and will discuss your initial protocol which will include elements such as a nutrition plan, recommended laboratory testing, and supplements. Along the way, the doctors will answer any and all questions you may have about the process.

Schedule a complimentary phone meeting with our patient care coordinator to discuss your health goals and ask questions about our office and services. We want to make sure that it’s a good fit for both of us and that our offerings are going to best support you on your journey to optimal health.

Lab Testing & Pricing

Two tests are included in the New Membership – a thorough baseline blood panel and a comprehensive wheat/gluten sensitivity and leaky gut panel. These tests provide information about nutrient status, cardiac markers, inflammation, autoimmunity, hormones, organ function, immune reactivity to gluten and wheat proteins, intestinal permeability, and more. Additional testing will likely be recommended and is not included in the membership fee.
Recommended lab testing will depend on individual circumstances and symptoms. These tests are optional and not included in the new membership fee, however, it is important to keep in mind that the more information the doctors have, the sooner they will be able to identify and address the root of your imbalances. For more information, see our Advanced Lab Testing page.

Each recommended test can range in price from around $85 to over $1,500 each. Lab tests will be recommended in order of importance. The total cost of all recommended laboratory testing from your initial consult typically ranges from $85 – $4,500.

Lab results take anywhere from five business days to eight weeks. The doctors will contact your immediately with any urgent findings, otherwise the results will be reviewed with you in detail at your follow-up appointment.

Although you may feel healthy, optimizing blood levels of certain markers can help you feel better, perform stronger, and stay healthy longer. Identifying certain changes in blood markers can also help us prevent disease onset. These changes can be identified up to five to ten years before the onset of symptoms. By discovering early markers of future disease and addressing the underlying cause, manifestation of the illness can be prevented and vibrant health can be maintained.
The type of functional and predictive testing we utilize is not generally offered within the conventional medical community. These tests seek out the root cause of imbalances within all the body systems. Analysis of these test results from a functional medicine perspective leads to the most significant health transformations.

Not really. Some points feel different than others, depending on where the needles are placed. Different styles of acupuncture result in different physiological responses and therefore different sensations. This is similar across various styles of massage therapy. Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture can be similar in sensation to a swedish massage – it is quite comfortable and relaxing. Trigger Point Dry Needling is a form of deep tissue work and can leave you feeling temporarily achy and sore like deep tissue massage or Rolfing.

Other Services

You will spend 30-60 minutes with one of our doctors and/or a nutrition specialist to develop a personalized nutrition plan, discuss the details of your plan, and collect resources to help understand and implement your plan.

All services at InSpero are for established patients. It is important that we have a detailed history on all our patients to tailor individualized treatments and ensure safety.

Appointments & Office Policies

The frequency and number of appointments depends on the condition for which the patient is seeking care, how long the issue has been present, and how much on-going support is needed. Functional medicine patients are often seen for an initial visit, a follow-up after receiving laboratory results, and additional monthly follow ups. Over time, follow-ups become spaced out to every 3-6 months. Neuromuscular medicine and pain management patients may find relief following the initial appointment, but a typical course of care is 3-12 treatments depending on the severity of the condition.
We encourage our patients to bring a spouse, significant other, or close friend to their appointments. Our treatment protocols are most successful when patients have a strong support system at home.
We save multiple new patient appointments every week so that new patients are not waiting months to see the doctor.
We require 48 hours notice if you are unable to make your appointment for all appointment types. You will receive an email reminder 48 hours before your scheduled appointment, so please call our office immediately after receiving this reminder if you must reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments will incur a fee.
Yes. We require all patients to have a primary care physician to cover emergencies and routine care and screening. We are a specialty office and work in conjunction with your current health team and are not a replacement for your primary care physician.
Telehealth is an important part of our practice as so many of our patients travel and maintain residences in other states. We are required by law to see all patients in person at least once every 12 months to obtain vitals and perform physical exams.
Once you are an established patient, you will have access to message the doctors directly through our patient portal. If the information requested requires more than a few minutes, you may be asked to schedule an appointment.
Per our office communication policy, all emails and calls will be returned within 48 business hours.
